Apple chutney

For 5 people
  • 3 red onions
  • 150 Celery sticks
  • 3-4 sour apples
  • 150 ml Apple cider vinegar
  • 75 g Sugar
  • 2-3 EL honey
  • 1 small bay leaf
  • 1 TL Mustard seeds
  • 100 ml Apple juice
  • 5-6 Stalk (s) Thyme

Peel the onions and cut into thin wedges. Clean, wash and cut the celery diagonally into thin strips. Wash apples, grate dry and quarter. Remove the core casing. Halve the quarter lengthways again, then cut into thin slices.

Bring the vinegar, sugar, honey, bay leaves, mustard seeds and juice to the boil. Add celery and onions and simmer for about 5 minutes. Wash the thyme and pluck the leaves off. Add apple wedges and thyme and simmer for 3-4 minutes.

Pour hot chutney into clean jars and close immediately.
