Spicy cherries

  • 1,25 kg Sour cherries
  • 100 ml red wine vinegar
  • 300 g Sugar
  • 2 TL 5-spice powder

cherries, wash, stem, stone. Weigh 1 kg. Preheat the oven (electric stove: 175 ° C / convection: 150 ° C / gas: see manufacturer).

For the infusion, bring the vinegar, sugar, 200 ml water and 5-spice powder to the boil.

In the meantime, distribute the cherries in clean glasses. Pour the hot infusion over it, leaving approx. 1.5 cm free towards the edge. Closing.

Place glasses in a roasterand pour hot water. Boil in the hot oven for about 1 hour. Take out the glasses and let them cool down. Spicy cherries go well with steak, poultry or cheese.
