Croque Monsieur

  • 50 g soft butter
  • 8 discs (approx. 300 g) cooked ham
  • 4 slices Emmentaler cheese
  • 2-3 EL medium hot mustard

Wash tomatoes, rub dry, cut into slices. Peel the onions and cut into thin rings. Cut the bread into 4 pieces. Halve each piece horizontally once. Brush the lower halves with butter.

Fold the ham slices together once so that they are as wide as the baguette. Halve the cheese slices. Top the baguette with ham and cheese. Spread tomatoes and onions on top. Brush the top halves of the baguette with mustard and place a lid on top.

Line the baking cup with baking paper. Put the croque on it. Bake in a preheated oven (electric stove: 200 ° C / convection: 175 ° C / gas: level 3) for 10-12 minutes. Halve each baguette piece again and serve immediately.
